***Announcing an ALL NEW CCA Wednesday Night Time Trial Season - Starts 29th April 2020***

edited June 2020 in Time Trial
Hi Folks,

Our mid-week Club Time Trial Season starts again on Wednesday 29th April, but you'll soon notice a difference. We've worked hard over the Autumn and Winter to revamp and restructure our offering to increase interest and uptake from both within and outside the Club.

The major changes are:
1. A new course alternating weekly with the existing foot-down "F14/10" starting at the Wrestlingworth cross-roads proceeding down the B1042 to the Wimpole RAB and return (the "F14/Wrestlingworth");

2. Two mid-week 25s around "the longest day" on the course used for the Inter Club 25s (F14/25). The Ladies' and Mens' Club Champ will have the best average of two from three of the two mid-week 25s and the Inter Club 25 on Sunday 19th July 2020; and

3. A new Cycling Time Trials (CTT) Regulation 14(i) requires Compulsory Use of a working Red Rear Light (flashing or steady). NO LIGHT, NO RIDE. See CTT Guidance Note No. 24 HERE.
In exchange, we're asking for a bit more commitment from first claim CCA riders to qualify for the season-long competitions by upping the minimum number of rides to 6, three each on the old foot-down course (F14/10) and three on the new course (F14/Wrestlingworth); and we will also need you each to help out twice.

The prizes on offer in the season-long competitions are for fastest Male, Female, Junior/Youth and Vets on standard (using VTTA standard times for 10 miles) - anyone born in 1979 or earlier is eligible; and The Northfield Handicap (points-based competition, apart from two compulsory "helps" across the season, for which you'll in any event receive your season points average for each "help", the Handicap competition organisation is otherwise unchanged).

OK, so you'll need a bit more planning to ensure you get your qualifying rides in. So, here are the dates for the rides in advance:
NEW F14/"Wrestlingworth" - 6th May, 20th May, 3rd June, 24th June, 15th July, 29th July, 12th August, 26th August;

F14/10 "Foot-down" - 29th April, 13th May, 27th May, 10th June, 1st July, 22nd July, 5th August, 19th August;

A circuit starting outside Guilden Morden on the Wrestlingworth-Guilden Morden road, into Guilden Morden and out on New Road through Shingay, left onto “Damnation Alley” just short of Wendy, left onto the B1042 at the “Toll Bar” and on until the Wrestlingworth cross roads, where left to the finish just short of Guilden Morden. In line with the current risk assessment, riders are required to stop, unclip and touch one foot to the ground within 2-5 metres of the junction onto the B1042 before proceeding at that point.

F14/25 - 17th June and 8th July.

To confirm, the last ride of the season is on 26th August 2020.

For Youth/Junior riders (under 18), we will need a signed Parent/Guardian consent form to compete - one form covers the whole season. This can be found HERE. However, NO FORM, NO RIDE. But, we only need one form on file to cover the whole season, not one form per ride. So, once the completed form is with us, you're sorted! :-)

Sign on at the Guilden Morden Village Hall from approximately 6.15 p.m.; 7.01 p.m. first starter (26th August start will be shifted forward to 6.45 p.m. as the nights draw in); £5 non-members; £4 for 1st claim CCA members and non-member Juniors/Youth; £3 CCA member Juniors/Youth.

OK, enough with all the rules. Let’s get racing! Best of luck to everyone!

  • This looks great! I like the idea of the 25 and mixing up the course. Cant wait to get started this year! Annoyingly though ill be working every other week with my new shift pattern which falls on the new course dates. Ill see what I'm able to do. Got a trophy to defend!
