Mapping tips in MapMyRide.com
For those that like to map routes - and eventually the club hopes to have all of them documented - I've been using MapMyRide.com to program them all in [I keep getting them sketched out from Bob].
It's not the smoothest of programs - but what's helped me massively is to tick the 'Follow Roads / Auto Routing' box in Map Settings [usually on the left of the screen]. Then you can just click along your route in big gaps and the software will [a bit slowly] draw the route from your last point. If it goes wrong - click 'Undo' in the Toolbox and try again in a slightly smaller increment. I've been doing this in 6-7 mile chunks and whipping through Bob's analogue maps preserving them for us all digitally.
I've been uploading these rides on the main website www.ccashwell.com - under Club Run you'll see a link to mapped rides. I've put the Saturday ones there that were mentioned on the forum. Let me know any new ones and I'll add them. Note - use 'Option 2: New Mapping Tool' when starting out.
To formally end a ride - double click the last point and click on Edit Marker and select the 'Stop sign' button.
