Great ride Martin..20 out on this one including Jon,Steve and Cameron from the youth section, also Greg 18 year old senior new member lacking last 3-4 wks ride fitness........we had a couple of punctures and a couple of mechanicals but for the distance averaged 16.5 over a hilly route.....great ride lads well done. As a plus Laura Trott caught the ride and joined the blue train for a few miles 2 thirds through the ride..good to see you out if you read this forum Laura...for those not in the know she is representing England at track commonwealth games along with her sister Emma on the road team.
Cheers Geoff - though I think 20 was too much for a hilly route on sometimes flinty lanes. I should have changed the route or insisted on a split. More concertinaring than Folk Night at the Rose & Crown and strained communication made it a bit stressful at times. Phil - I hope your knee is all right.
Still, it was impressive to see the yoof ride so confidently. And, clearly, this distance and speed is a popular choice.
Maybe Ms Trott thought it was the Sky Ride way off course? All we needed was Boris Johnson.
I have a good route for next week..50 or 60 miles with a cut off for the shorter route if wanted....roads a bit more open and no flints or gravel..faster course so at that average pace could be acceptable....
Martin

my bike so i went home thru letchworth even so done 63 miles a great route if some what flinty!!.

Trying to sort my rattles too Tony...agree Martin that 20 was a tad large and we clearly had two groups who could have split..would have made the ride less elastic.....still, craic was good and we managed
