  • Add me as a strong possible
assuming enough people to do a 16 -17 mph version

    James
  • Dave and I are both in - sounds like a great day!
  • I'd like to do this but will have to confirm nearer the time. And yes a 16-17 mph version sounds good!

  • Yes I remember persuading Bob to carry on at Ely ( his original plan )
( one in front of Bob on the right )
Took the first Crumps sausage role, it was bliss
The boys towing us along with what seemed no effort at all
and nearly missing station on the way back, due to Pete, MC and the brandy

Looking forward to second attempt :-)
    Thanks for sorting Martin

    James
  • Im in, riding wing man for Robert B…… :-)
  • I'd like to join also please.

    Thanks

  • Hi. Is there a GPS route available for this ride?

Wells – King's Lynn bit. Tweaked at the start from previous years.

Note the welcome soft decline for the last 10 miles, except for a lumpy roundabout thing. We'll have earned it.
  • I will be coming too.....

Looks like I've got a long night ahead of me making flippin' badges. I don't mind...

Depending on actual turnout on the day, we might need to think about splitting into groups til Ely at least. Thereafter, we are on very quiet lanes - generally.

We'll do whatever is safe. And a good chance to exhibit some tidy group riding and road etiquette eh!
  • I will be there as well.

Best you make a start on them badges today...
  • Room for a little en.

Best put a forward order in for the Chippy in Wells with 30 + riders !

Here's what it's all about folks... This year's finisher badge. Concept © Phil K with his rallying "Mad fer it" war cry from last year. A bit abstract - but then it never did the Marmotte any harm.

And keeping the animal theme going, for those glorious few who go that proverbial extra mile, the Double Badger badge.

    Collectors' items!

Btw... Two chippies on Wells harbour front.

  • Very nice ;-)

    Thanks
  • Blimey! Now I've seen the badges, I really don't think I can join up at Arrington - I wouldn't feel I'd earned the prize. Bike in the car to Ashwell then!
  • Car! I plan on earning my badges in the pub after!
  • Martin,
Can we have a badge for the best downed pint. Another for the missed pint and a medal for whoever cycles all the way back?
    Proper good badges old chap
  • .Hope to join this outing. Robbie are you still planning on riding back? I'd be up for that
  • Count me in please

Hmmm... Let's see closer to the day, but we might need to sort out a few group leaders if our numbers are high. With each group having the route knowledge in someone's head or Garmin.

Also. This many riders won't all fit on the first available train back. So think about the possibility of hanging around King's Lynn [Fenman pub] if possible to let those that really need to get back quick get on the first available train.

Yes Vince. Badges for skills off the bike too on the day. Am doing the math in me head. Loitering back at the Three Tuns after for a couple of hours and we should meet up with the there-and-back crackpots. That would be nice to be waiting for them.

The next Tuesday club pub nite, Tues 2nd Sept, might be a good pre-ride catch-up opportunity.

Unless Tim can do the 5 loaves and 2 fishes trick with beer and pasties, he's going to need an enormous saddle bag and last year's was huge!

Perhaps we should discuss sharing both the cost and the load if we want a traditional Narborough Belgian Breakfast.

Vgd idea to split into >1 group. I'm in

Might be poss to have 2 start times, with the aim of both groups meeting somewhere along the way and riding some of it together ... perhaps splitting again at t'other end? Some loiter over beer and some go for an earlier train ... and some turn into the wind with gritted teeth and minds set on the UltraWelles badge?
  • managed to get the night off, so will be up for doing the 200 miler if anybody else fancies it?
  • I think I might have found a solution to catering for the masses in Narborough.

    Up for it Tim?

You could leave it in Narborough and Robbie could bring it back!
