Birthday black pudding scotch egg and salad at Look Mum No Hands? Birthday poshochino at Wapha cafe? Birthday gear cable from Condor? Birthday slow bike challenge @ The Dovetail? Birthday korma at Dine Bangla? All is not lost.
Everyone likes a schedule. Even better: one that's high resolution and readable. So, here is the schedule for the CCA London Social, Friday 12th December. All strongly or vaguely cycling related. I hope to see you at the start, or somewhere along the way.
1pm Look Mum No Hands. Lunch. Great food and beer selection. The original Old Street one. Run by two friendly Ashwell lads. http://www.lookmumnohands.com
2.30pm Lowlander. Long tables and a ridiculously longer beer menu. You feel like youre somewhere deep in Benelux. http://www.lowlander.com/beers/
4pm Pinkies out for a triple espresso and a pout at the Rapha Cafe on Brewer Street. Well all do black and white selfies with moody faces, looking into the middle distance. Facial hair please. http://pages.rapha.cc/clubs/london/club-cafe
4.45pm A dive into Condor for an early Christmas present to thyself, then a stroll to the Dovetail. http://www.condorcycles.com
The excitement mounts... At the Rapha cafe, 4pm approx, there'll be a formal presentation of the Ride Of The Three Cafes, the new club spring classic to bookend the season along with September's Wells ride.
Searching for that perfect Christmas gift? All London Social attendees will be able to purchase an official Ride Of The Three Cafes mug for just £7 [price TBC]. The mug of cycling champions - just add strong coffee.
Lots of people up for the afternoon and evening, Fri 12th Dec. I will probably book the Baldock curry in a week or so. Anyone I've not spoken to interested in jumping in: let me know. See above for the schedule.
Cheers

PS If the weather OK and workload permitting, I might cycle to London on the day, leaving Ashwell around 8.30am and safely storing my bike in the office over the weekend.
I've booked the James D 5-star recommended Bombay Bistro in Baldock for 10 people 8.30pm - a slightly later change to the previous schedule as they're doing two sittings that Friday given the season. We can scale the numbers up on the day - once we do a head count.
Also: those joining at the Baldock Stage and missing the earlier London Prologue... I know at least John R and David J will be waiting in the Orange Tree pub - and likely before 7pm - so get involved there if you can't do London.
Seeing images of Cav in Ghent brought back memories pigs (cooked and uncooked) rolling on the floor. Oh, and a sleeping chicken. Chapeau Martin - I'm in for the afternoon leg.
Martin,
Coordinated a sneaky meeting in London on the morning so will take half a day off work to join the festivities as soon as they begin.
Woopy. Should feel better by then.
Great stuff Vince. I just hope your boss isn't in CCA and a regular forum visitor. D'oh!
After this week's slow bike challenge at t'tuns, I am looking forward to more at the Dovetail. The winner will receive this genuine metal Tom Boonen key ring.
I have to say I'm feeling confident on this. I'm throwing down the Boonen gauntlet.
See you all Fri 12th, 1pm, LMNH. Might cycle in beforehand. Note: limited edition Ride Of The Three Cafes mugs will be available to all Friday socialists for a special offer cost price: a remarkable £6!
I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I won't be cycling to London in the morning. Not least because of the Met Office 'Yellow early warning of wind' forecast. This dies off by lunchtime though.
Just a thought you might want to bring a cycle helmet as I reckon we'll get on boris bikes from LMNH to Lowlander.
I'll be at the Old Street LMNH at 1pm for lunch. I hope to see you there or at some point along the way.

Will join at the Orange Tree - count me in for the curry.

Adam
There were no pigs or chickens this year at Gent, although there was a cat, a Burmese apparently!
If I can find it, the pig mask will be out on 12th Dec. It probably still stinks of Belgian mustard and grimy velodrome floor.
PS. I'm up for trying to plan riding to Gent again in 2015 or 2016, 'sans motorway'.
