Also... Rutland Weekend 300K 300km cycling event starting from Baldock, Herts. Controls at Oundle, Edith Weston, Bottesford and Oundle, plus 4 information controls. Fast ride out, then hilly to halfway back. On quiet roads with decent surfaces (t…

A shame Lizzie Armitsteads team has not learnt a lesson from the mens teams of old, that light Lycra colours colours leave absolutely nothing to the imagination - as can viewed in the pdf collecting her prize - her outfit is more than a tad revea…

LINK here to a pdf of image from both Baldock & Welwyn.

More images HERE I am not a sports photographer, more observational. Both Baldock and Welwyn. Baldock wins hands down for atmosphere!
-
The race atmosphere in Baldock was far better than in Welwyn. I'll pop up some images up later HERE A pdf of images. Glad two Ashwell groups adhered to Rule #9: "Those who ride in foul weather be it cold, wet, or inordinately hot are members …

Forecast for tomorrow's riding. Trust you have winter bikes and / or mud guards fitted again?
-
By 07th, I can pass on notes to you as I hope to be in N Scotland by then. I may take the scenic route all the way around the top, it remains to be seen though. I am photographing the ride, so that's my real purpose, so early mornings and late eveni…

Thanks. I noted the CTC site, I guess I might spend some £, sign-up and use the resource. When are you off on your trip? Solo too? Cheers.
-
Yes, the initial route I have in mind is available as .gpx files from the Cicerone website, thanks. I hope to do some side detours, in particular, NW Scotland, but we'll see how it pans out.

Porlock hill is a beast, something about it being the steepest A road in the UK (?), last ridden on a mtn bike, even then, it was a zig-zag ride at time.

http://www.strava.com/activities/137309307 Lovely. The first 50 miles of the Hatfield Forest century ride takes you to the Blue Egg. Whopping brunch again as per yesterday's ride! 30 miler return as per yesterday's Blue-Egg ride. Perfect, were it n…

Confused. One minute we are doing the Hatfield route from 08:10, with quite a few riders, the next it's not? I have the route loaded into my Garmin and will ride it from 08:30 from outside the Moon and Stars - so in theory this is when the Blue Trai…

I joined Roy after Buntingford 'til I peeled off in Sandon. We were taking it easy, but he said he'd be fine on the run down to his place in Hinxworth so I do hope so. At least his shoes and cleats were once again working. We all have "off" days, wh…

.gpx data all loaded and working on the Garmin. I will join you at Sandon on your way through.

It's taking time to get my fitness back, but being dropped does mean you can't hide! http://www.strava.com/activities/128409780 47 miles at 17.4mph.

http://www.bucksmtb.co.uk/denham classic.htm This is a cracking ride on 04 June. "To be held on June 01. The event starts at Denham Country Park, Denham , Bucks within the perimeter of the M25 but don't be fooled by the start location this is a to…

Sir, I was Army, a Lt, only five yrs & left in 1987. Ahhhhh, them were the days. Ergo, I be a landlubber. 'Tis a far better place, the land, at least you don't need y'er Speedos. http://tinyurl.com/n2ktnd Patrick Hennessey's The Junior Officer…

Thanks guys, I needed that. And to think - I almost took the easy option of a local ride on my own. I made it around 45 miles at 15mph & 3hrs. Legs are insisting I take a day off on Monday, but that rounds off a decent 1st week back club riding…

The whole business of being off the bike since June (with the club) is really telling. Okay in the first third, then I suffer. The last 1/3rd I am in bad shape, going backwards has no up-sides. I am right in saying that people are in better conditio…

Yep, allied to the 202 days off the bike. A month's training and we'll hopefully be firing on all four cylinders, a little lighter too wouldn't come a miss. Then .... away again to interesting places. Oddly, I think I was in roughly the same shape …

I felt that! Struggled in the final run-in to the Mordens. Slept for an hour on my return to Sandon & felt punch drunk for a good while afterwards. 54 miles at 17.3mph
-
I hope to join you tomorrow too. Go easy please.
-
Thanks. Once I'm back from Paris next week, maybe hook up and buy y'all a beer and hear what you have to say one evening? Tim
-
Is Shaun the only one who has done any long distance touring? I'll try and hook up with him if he's still riding the Wednesday club ride (next week).
-
If I am still in the UK, 01 June is my 50th birthday & judging by my 2 weeks back on the bike thus far, I'd be fit enough.... but planning a.n.other eastern adventure as I type so I don't want to sign on the dotted line 'til I know where I'll be.…
