Nice write up Mitchy and great to see you guys yesterday. The organising club (Beacon Wheelers) was very pleased that you supported the event. You simply let your legs do the talking! Definitely good to see more CCA or indeed any riders from the eas…

What a weekend and what an event. It was about as far away from a pleasant weekend ride to a cafe in the summer sunshine as you can probably get. James has posted a nice personal account above but here are a few thoughts from me. The start was in a …

Forgot ti say - new club record!
-
Finished - James seems well satisfied. 417 milesTBC Total respect - he's done himself, family and CCA proud.
-
395miles approaching the final hour AND THE SUN IS OUT!
-
On the finishing circuit. 370miles with around 3h to go. Warmer now and dry but wind rising.
-
Thanks Stef. 323miles with 5.5h to go. Thinking 420+ achievable
-
You cant sugar coat this event. The morning has brought drizzly rain but thankfully almost no wind. James is well past the 300mile mark and still pushing hard. You can sense the urgency in all the riders voices as they enter the last 6h and realise t…

277miles with 8hours to go. Thanks for all the messages. All good

Temperature plummeted in last hour before dawn. A real cameraderie developed between all the riders and helpers. Thankfully the strategy with the lights worked out well. James had a slow hour but picked up speed again now.
-
12hours in and 220miles done. Damp but still night. James doing great and feeling strong.
-
We're 7hours in and 129miles completed. James just stopped for a change of clothes. A wet and cold evening has left riders shivering. We're losing the light early tonight and lights are on. The night is mostly taken up on short circuits from a 24h …

We're nearly three hours into the event. Riders having to contend with torrential rain showers and flooded roads. Busy roads around Whitchurch and traffic backing up behind riders. A real eclectic mix of riders - maybe this event attracts the eccentr…

You can certainly use an MTB to thrash around a CX race for an hour and get a good workout. As for competing around the front of a race - that is a completely different matter (on any bike!). I did my first season of CX last year and it was a big lea…

I recommend you download the GPX for the Chiltern 100 route from the Human Race website. It takes you up and down the Chiltern escarpment and there are plenty of bail out points. The Wee Bookshop cafe in Chinnor is good and welcoming to cyclists.

Chris raises an interesting point - I have given the same instruction to riders when marshalling Club events. TBH it has helped keep me engaged and focused on the task. CTT regs indicate that organisers should appoint marshalls to indicate direction …

Rotten luck Tony - pleased to hear you're not seriously injured. Hopefully you'll get a nice new Madone by way of consolation.

Well done and great photos. Is anybody riding Event 5 on the L143 Greystoke course? It is the Border City Wheelers promotion on the bank holiday. Just a word of warning - a section of the course has just been chipped. The section is a very fast down…

All done - a nice simple process. JP

Chapeau to all that took part and congratulations to Dave H. From what I saw at Berkhampstead the muddy conditions suit him well. Keep the stories and photos coming.
-
Best of luck from me as well. Stophe is a really good guy so I'm sure you'll be well looked after.
-
Hi Geoff, thanks for the offer. In the Cotswolds with parents for a few weeks so think we are covered. Will give you a call over the next couple of weeks.
-
11,700 miles
-
Yes the wet bit! Renting or buying we"ll be there.
-
Cheers Geoff. I will hopefully be a near neighbour early in 2017. Look forward to getting out for some rides together and preparing for the Pyrenean trip.
-
Club Championships will be a mudfest - going to be interesting. Guess you only get better in the mud by riding in it. Have a great Christmas everyone.
-
Thanks Iain - agree it was an interesting day! You beat me to it with the write-up. Here's my tuppence worth for what it is worth. Well it had to happen eventually - MUDFEST. Despite the continuing dry weather the course was a real slog. Really slip…
-
Good write up Daniel - sounds like a interesting course and worth the effort of the drive into Kent. No doubt the results will eventually get posted on the Eastern CX website. Thankfully no repeat of Storm Desmond this December so hoping it stays d…

Enjoyed that today - my 1st ever Saturday 9.30am ride. Not difficult to see why this club run is so successful. Thanks to DavidJ for organising us and leading the route. Like to echo what's been said about Dave and Jenny's hospitality at halfway. Ap…
