Hi Martin, I’m struggling to make the travel work for this ride. Sorry but need to add my name to the list of bail-outs. Hope everyone has a great day
-
Hi Martin, please add me to the list. Thanks

Thinking day2 needs an extra 20-30miles? Route to Reeth looks good. Perhaps from there we ride up Swaledale and back over Tan Hill/Stang? See how folk feel at the caff.

The workable solution for V50 is to join and ride the Central League. No rider limits and equally good racing based on my experience from 16/17 season.

Thanks Geoff for another great weekend riding your local roads. Some classic climbs as well as a few hidden gems as yet undiscovered by the sportive crowd. I’m sure Mike will spread the word so that we can persuade a few more of the Carlisle crowd t…

The Etape du Dales route passes through Hawes and is nicely described with a download via the following link. It is a classic Dales route and the event has been popular with CCA in the past. IMO the route nicely showcases what the area has to offer.…

Hi Neil - just seen it and will send this week. Been distracted with other stuff and not been on here for a while. Thanks for the reminder.
-
Hi Neil, PM me your address and I’ll send them to you in the post (I live in Cumbria). Cheers, Jeremy

Questions best answered through F2F discussion with the parties involved and the committee officials. Good luck with it.

Andy - it is difficult to mediate when you are part of the problem. Making peace through discussion (not on the forum) is clearly the best way forward.

I have a 500 Series Domane with rim brakes and it is a good bike. Trek have developed the frame since I bought the bike so that there is a front and rear elastomer suspension system. So that is quite appealing on today’s rubbish roads. I’ve got hydr…

There is a wide variety of riding in Herts from cross country plodding around local bridleways through to super technical trails in local woods. An MTB with a decent suspension fork will do a lot more than a CX bike once it gets knarly. MC is dial…

It is my observation that CCA is very welcoming of members of other local clubs joining in activities without insisting they join as second claim (eg club runs, time trials and chain gangs). Presumably we are offered similar courtesy if we wanted to…

Really enjoyed this thread - thanks for posting Nat.

You’ve certainly got land to make an interesting course which can be embellished to include all the usual features. You are in the CXNE region and it might be worth contacting them to discuss what you are thinking. Seems that there is a farm in Pont…

Just seen the route - the Col du Romme/Columbiere combination is super nasty coming late on in the event. Unless I am very mistaken Martin and I rode this section on our Morzine trip in 2016.

Geoff - I have a WT jersey and small fits me perfectly. Reckon a medium would fit you. The WT jersey is good quality and still does the job after 3 seasons of use. It is skin tight so you need to be comfortable with that.

Rode out to the Ribblehead Viaduct today to support our riders. The field had just descended Whernside before heading on the road to the final climb up Pen-y-Ghent. Lots of very frustrated motorists who seemed incapable of waiting whilst marshalls u…

All being well I should be at the Ribblehead Viaduct on Sunday. Weather looks good and hopefully everyone has a great day and stays in one piece. Dave - had it in my head that you were travelling up to support? Where are you planning to be on the d…

Definately discs - think of the diffrence between cantis and discs on MTBs. I have a compact 50/34 as the bike has doubled as a commuter/winter machine. Mudguard mounts useful if you intend to use as an all rounder. These bikes get thrashed in CX ra…

Martin - is this ride going ahead regardless of the weather?

Cheers John - back a bit crocked but otherwise good. Glad to see you're still enjoying your cycling.

9.30am unadvertised - our usual crew? There can only be one set of pirates in CCA!
-
Thanks David - I was going up as Bob was going down so only time for a few words. The CCA kit is a nice simple design that really stands out. Geoff - was out with new club mates on a loop from Alston. Spent too much time grovelling to hang on today…

Or ride back from Wells and avoid the fascist guards at KL! Well somebody had to mention it. Keen if we can get a there and back group.
