I'll be out if my mech hanger comes in the post today, if not I'll also find it very hard to ride a bike!
-
That suits me. John, I'll be driving up to the Two Chimneys for 7.15 start. You can chuck your bike in the back of my truck if you want to stop for a pint or meet us up there. No 2 laps for me today though.
-
Any decision on time yet. I've got a mate who wants to come along so would be good if I could let him know what time to meet.
-
The rumours are true! One broke mech hanger meant a good three hours rebuilding the old frame this evening ready for tomorrow. I don't mind earlier. Not too sure about a diversion, had enough of that on the way back from Grafham, two hours on the A…

As there seems to be no takers for this weeks fun in the dark I'll be giving it a miss tonight. Normal service resumed next week hopefully. David

I am riding, legs feeling a bit heavy tonight but I'll give it my best tomorrow. The good thing with single chainring and no chain device, even if it does come off it's a relatively simple job putting it back on. I'm sure it will be fine though, I h…

Good stuff Tim, Sram mechs are preferred for this setup as they have stronger default tension than Shimano. Have you shortened your chain? Wrap it round the chainring and largest cog without going through the mech and add two links is the usual advic…

Well done to all the CCA youth riders, Nathan was actually third boy so two podiums is a great effort. This was a new venue and I have to agree, brilliantly organized and a fantastic course, you'd have loved it Shelton. Bombholes, dykes, run ups, pe…

John Jamie does his coaching tonight and it's parents evening for us. Could have done with a ride too.. Have fun.

After a brief discussion in the car park as to whose fault it was that Shelton didn't bring a pump (mine apparently), whose fault it was that the pump I did bring didn't work with his valves (mine again) and a trip to the neutral service house (thank…

I'm in, I've been cutting down trees all day in this wind and survived so I'm feeling lucky.

Good ride tonight. Fast, hard and muddy(ish), just how we like it. I made it 59:25 moving time so the tale of the tape shows a good run out. Dave
-
I should be out for this, I think it's going to be a muddy one. You could already see the places where the muddy patches and puddles were starting to form when we went for a little ride on Sunday. Doubt we'll get anywhere near a 52, that was set in …

Well done to everyone who raced. The vets was a fast and furious race and unseasonably warm. Daniel, those barriers caught me out every time, I never quite mastered them. I enjoyed my battle with Tim, it was a course of two halves with Tim getting t…

Jamie, you know the saying that it never gets easier you just go faster! You were actually quicker yesterday in moving time but had more rests. Over 5 minutes yesterday compared to under 2 minutes the week before. Isn't Strava great.

Thanks for writing the report. We both enjoyed our day out in the fens and I was impressed with the race organisation. They kept it nice and simple and there was minimal waiting around. Really pleased with my result too.
-
Just looked at the Lincolnshire results from last week and there were only 33 riders in the combined race with only 6 Vet 40s!! There may be a few more this week. I like the timings, Joe's race at 11.15 so don't have to get up at the crack of dawn a…

Quite possibly TPE, the Eastern league did the sensible thing and didn't schedule a race for this weekend. You're right about HH, a lot of Central league riders will head there. I also thought about Wessex but as South West is also cancelled that c…

Ooh, good plan John, might give that a try. Much accessible from Hitchin.

Great ride guys, really enjoyed it. Learnt a nice little alternative route from Nathaniel too which always help keep things interesting. I think it's worth adding for those that are thinking of joining us, we don't always need to go full gas, we wil…
-
I'll be coming along, I'll meet you at the Two Chimneys rather than Kingswood as I will try and get two laps in. If anyone wants to join me I'll be at Kingswood at 7.00pm for a briskish ride to the meeting point. David

Under 10s are automatically affiliated and neither need to belong to an affiliated club, nor affiliate individually. I'm fairly certain this is the case for Under 12s but you may need to check. Post on their Facebook page, they're usually quite good …

Is this open to second claim members, Mark? Any advice on tyre choice or will that depend on the weather. Muds or intermediates? David

Thanks for the heads up on this Jane, it was a great day out for the whole family. There was BC circuit racing for all categories, Go-ride races and some fun races too. Hopefully this will become a regular event.
-
It was the same weekend, we stopped off at a bar/cafe and watched the race on the way back from it. It's not the same each year so will have to see. I've just negotiated that my unused 3 peaks pass out from this year is indeed transferable for this s…

Could be up for this depending on if it clashes with Youth National Series as it did this year. Have you looked at the Ronde Van Vlaanderen sportive the week before? http://www.sport.be/rondevanvlaanderen/2014/eng/parcours/ All the fun of Roubaix w…

Brilliant, can't wait.

I should add I've still got the Eggbeaters if you want to borrow them to make a decision, you never know it might just be me and she'll get on fine with them.
-
Eggbeaters are great for mud clearance and very lightweight but I think kids will find it hard to clip in under pressure. I experimented with them last year after having trouble with mud clearance on an old pair of SPDs. I could clip in perfectly to …

I have tried to enter Joseph but the system will not accept his entry as he's an U10 and the BC website thinks it's only for U12 and above for the fixed wheel omnium. I spoke to Sophie at Colchester and she assured us that there would be fixed whee…
