I've entered too. Really enjoyed it last year.

Very unlucky with the mechanical Dan. It was a shame too as I think that would have turned out to be an epic battle, one like I used to have with Tim, but we've not had yet this year.
-
Fastest time this year was 4h 16m on a cross bike. Slowest was 6h 58m. For comparison of people you may know Vince 4h36m Daniel 4h42m both on cross bikes. I'll leave it to them to tell you how hard they went. Have fun it's a great route.

Great pictures Nat. A lot of smiley faces, CXers are definitely happiest when the weather is bad.
-
I reckon I'll be staying on 1. You're too quick these days Dan. I'll be doing a rain dance on Sunday morning!

Sue Chimes.

It was properly turned over a few weeks ago which pulled out the bolts. I think that movement you've highlighted may have been the wind. I'm going to be doing some maintenence up there next weekend so will secure it properly.

Will, you've come to the right place for advice. My fear is though you will get several contradictory pieces of said advice. My two penneth. I recently put some large volume tyres on my cross bike for exactly the sort of terrain you are on and it w…

110 entries in the Vet 40s! I've never been on row 15 before but there's always a first time.

Thanks to all today for their help. I know this is a well used phrase but I really couldn't have done it without you. Jenny's right we are tough and when needed really pull together as a team. Vince gets a special mention for cycling to the seaside…

Fantastic. You'll be helping out with the judging. It's just like timekeeping at the club 10 but they may be coming through at shorter intervals, to say the least. There will be at least one other person in the team with experience of it and I'll be …

Bumping this back to the top. Entry on the day is accepted in all categories. Youth riders, come and show off all the skills you've been learning all summer on a Thursday. It's also the Youth club championships so the chance to be named 'Club Champ…

I can help out James, pushing off, timekeeping or marshalling, whatever you need.

Thanks for posting that video Daniel, it really captured the spirit of the event. This was indeed another fantastic CCA weekend away. I loved the format of racing/riding, I was unsure of how hard I'd actually race given the overall toughness of …

Just myself, Joe and Archie B out for a hot 20 miles around Hitchin. Plenty of muddy sections after last night's storms, one in particular in Great Offley forcing some portage and a search for a stick.
-
I'll be coming down too. If anyone needs a bike I can bring a second one, it's a 56cm, in case we get a rush of new masochists.
-
Count me in. I was just thinking of posting something myself.
-
Good luck tomorrow Pete. Change of plan now anyway so will not be going this morning. Might try tomorrow afternoon.
-
Joe will be coming.

I could make a milky coffee if that's any good? I'll email you my address.
-
I was planning on going for a ride locally, I'm a bit time restricted so probably couldn't factor in the time to get to Ashwell. If you don't get any other offers and fancy riding or driving to Hitchin for some similar routes as a few weeks ago then …

Oops, still got mine. I can bring it to cross on Sunday.
-
Very good write up Daniel. Thanks for organising and the excellent coffee and cake, it was very much needed at that point.
-
The September event is on the 8th. I will endeavour to get it on BC soon.

Entry closes at midnight tonight. EOL is an option but it makes it harder getting you on to the timing system for our race. I take it these are the championships for all other categories too, youth, juniors and women?

The people in the tent are these guys https://velobants.wordpress.com/ They set up camp at every Central race, offering support, beer hand ups, air horns, high fives. This is very common at cross in America. Not everyone's cup of tea I guess but y…

The sand pit was definitely getting more treacherous as the race went on. The central rut that I was riding was getting deeper and deeper, exposing some timber or concrete at the far end. It nearly caught me out on the final lap but just managed to g…

Stuart - Entry for the club champs on the 23rd doesn't close for another week, Dan's talking about the warm up race at Berko on the weekend. John - Don't know if 2nd claims allowed to win the trophy but you're welcome to come and race. We get our ow…

Agree with Tim, that course is one that benefits from the Wednesday training more than any other. Not just the techniques in riding the technical bits but the decision making processes needed when in a race situation. I tried as much no brake corneri…

Great pic of Tim
