Thanks for organising Daniel. I managed the second ring, The Valkyries, and was allowed to survive, just! Some familiar tracks for me but a few new ones and I haven't really done them in such muddy conditions on a cross bike so pretty hairy at some …

I will try and make this at some point. A night out on the Saturday will decide where I can join you. Hopefully 10.30 at your house or somewhere on the loop around Hitchin.

Mark, I'm not sure you can enter on the day. It does say so on the BC website but I think that means if it hadn't sold out. I emailed Barry to see if there was a waiting list and he said that it was already oversubscribed so wasn't worth turning up h…

Try shovelling several tons of soil/sand/gravel twisting as you move it in to a wheelbarrow. Best obliques workout you can get. In fact come and work with me and I'll provide you with a free core workout!

My favourite race of the year too. The thing I enjoy the most about cross is the small races within a race especially with team mates and to do that with the other categories and on such a great course. What's not to like. Tim was very strong, I tho…

According to the race timetable there's a window of 20 minutes for course practice. In reality this could be reduced if there's still people racing and in the past Central have been quite strict in not letting you on the course if there's still racin…

Link to the live results page. For those who can't make it but want to keep up with the action this even has live lap by lap results! Surely no better way to spend your Sunday afternoon. app.lap.io/event/2017-central-cx-league-13/results?category=CC…

Great write up Daniel, sounds like quite an experience. I'll have to consider it for next year. The Belgian men's race was quite dull, course dominated by that bridge and sand and all over as a competition after half a lap.

Online entry for this closes tonight. Central League have arranged for us to have a separate wave start for the Senior race and will also give us our own category in the chip timing system. It helps them to do this if everyone enters in advance but i…

Really good course, as Iain said had everything, including that rarest of things this year, mud. Not a huge amount of racing to be had despite the big field of 75 in the Vet 40s. The one guy I got in to a bit of a tussle with ripped his mech off in …

Joseph will have Cheeseburger and lemonade please.
-
Agree with that, a good course that we'd never been to before. Joseph really liked the technical U12s course although it was rather short. More hills than I expected but plenty of other stuff to keep you interested. Tim was very strong today, he stay…

We can do the Thursday 22nd but not Friday 23rd. If needs be we can also do the Saturday before.
-
Yes that's good for us. Thanks.

Thanks for organising Harley, great idea. That's still a school night for Hertfordshire so could it be early evening/late afternoon?
-
Daniel, you have me all wrong. I wasn't thinking of myself. I'm sure I could rustle up a second bike, I've got a petrol jet washer and there's a few Central leaguers who owe me a favour to act as pit crew. I was just thinking of the purity of the con…

No you don't have to be registered with Central. They use a chiptiming system now so when you register it includes the cost of the chip, but if you're not registered you will have to pay a £10 deposit which you will get back when you hand it back in…

I think the massive difference in the first lap time was mostly due to the clock starting when the juniors went off a couple of minutes ahead. Definitely slower though due to traffic. I too enjoyed the slower pace of the start and was able to pace m…

Jeremy, I have a portable petrol pressure washer. I've taken it to a few races this year but have never really needed to use it. When it gets muddy I'll probably take it and you're free to make use of it if you want as is anybody for that matter. It …

I don't think that kind of stupidity should be congratulated Stuart unless it encourages me to try a double header again. I had nothing today after yesterday's efforts and was struggling round almost last. I don't know what happened with the results…

There's the Retro Bike site, they have a forum and classifieds section. Might also be worth asking on LFGSS

What about Central League in Corby on 15th January? Doesn't clash with Eastern. Daniel and I did this one last year, quite a good course mix of parkland and woods.
-
The only problem with that is it's restricted to riders from Eastern and South Eastern regions. Some people will be registered as Central, if you live in Biggleswade, Langford, Stotfold, Shefford, Potton, Sandy etc
-
Either good for me. I was planning on doing the Misterton race anyway.

I've been running a single chain ring setup for a few years now, with and without an MTB clutch mech {which tensions the chain), medium cage, short cage, all sorts. In my experience the two crucial things are the narrow wide chain rings and chain …

Unlucky Daniel. That corner/cattle grid was treacherous in the wet. A rider had crashed in front of me and was prone on the floor so I had to change my line, mid grid, resulting in me hitting the deck. Fortunately for me just a bit of road rash on th…

Hope you're feeling better now Stuart. A few riders were asking after you today. As Daniel said a tough course that went up or down, with the down being fairly technical and bumpy with the baked ground. Contrary to the weather Ashwell had for the gr…

We got an email with a gpx and tcx file this morning but I can't get either of them to work. Has anyone else had this problem or is it just my technological incompetence? It isn't recognised on my Garmin and I've tried uploading it to sites that sho…

I don't think the 28s would fit inside that frame unfortunately. You'd struggle to find anything else in a 25 that had any sort of tread on it too. Looking at the weather forecast it's going to be bone dry and you could conceivably get away with sli…

Hi Mark, Joseph and I would like to attend please. Thanks. Dave
