keep them coming guys...good response so far...sorry for those otherwise committed....it is sadly a really tough call to book any time at all so we have to take the slots as they come.
Hi all, I have sent my payment and application form (electronically) and not had confirmation of membership. Hopefully I am a fully paid up member and can join you guys, like some posts above I'd probably get myself there and have a mini break at the same time.
Thanks again all
Carbon Kens Domestique!
good stuff everyone. keep them coming...I now have the forms to fill in and need to confirm numbers so I will be posting costs excluding transport. Will confirm next post but track will cost £240..coach £52 and bikes £17 for adults and £12.50 for under16.
Club fixed costs non recoverable will be £292 so if we say a minimum of 20 people it will work out at £15 per head plus your bike/shoe hire and the cost of getting there.
Only 7 adults so far so get posting or costs per head will increase.
I have just booked Peter Deary to be the official track coach on this session. For those who don't know, Peter was the Derny rider at the 2012 olympics and is a very experienced coach.
This frees me to ride pace with newbie trackies and help reassure those less confident. I have worked with Peter before and been on many of his sessions. We are in good hands.
9 so far...maybe 10..Jon?.....
I would expect all those young riders who are in the super track group to do this. Obviously if riders are on other events they can't.
Come on guys...get the word round.........
yes im interested, but in reality i wont be able to do this as it is slap bang in the middle of my exams. i'll make the final decision closer to the date.
mini break idea has been 'declined' by 'er in doors, but am still up for the session, I can drive with +1 (+2 at a squeeze) and split fuel or can jump in with someone else, im easy.
Thanks again and see you at the 24th TT!
Hi Stu....24th TT ..take it you mean hardriders....sorry, but in Durham so miss most of club rides etc...........Do you have a track bike Stu...if I remember rightly you need a larger than normal frame and we will have to make sure they have one to fit
Hi Geoff!! Yes I do need a larger frame. I currently ride a 62.5cm (custom made Ti, btw :) ) frame but could manage in a 60cm for a couple of hours so they should have one to fit?! (i hope). Yes hardriders on the 24th. shame to miss you but hopefully see you at velodrome. Any chance i can have a CCA Jersey by the time we go to manchester so i look like i 'belong' i already stand out enough due to height so would like to fit in!! lol!
Are there still places left for the session? If so, can I book a place for myself and also for Archie (who will have his 10th birthday on the 2nd June).
No problem Iain.......just a note for everyone....I am able to book until the week prior to the session so in case anyone else thinks they missed the slot don't worry.
The session is booked and the coach is organised...all we need now are more riders.....we can cope with at least 20 as that is the max per coach ...we will probably have two groups so we can switch between groups and have a review of each exercise.
I will plan the content of these 2 hours so we get the most from this trip.
I will post this as well as a check list for all riders of things you will need.
Nearer the time we can plan the transport and who is sharing.
Remember that the day before Sat. 1st June is our first grass track open racing event at our track, so a packed weekend of fixed wheel riding.
this will be a great trip and experience for all, especially those who've not done it before thanks to geoff for persevering and getting us booked in.
i think there were almost 30 names who expressed an interest above in early posts, no obligation of course, but it would be good to know if you can make it or not- you wont regret it! and best of all, no maniac motorists on the track trying to mow you down...
to answer adam R's questions above - yes it is no problem bringing spectators - i think they can sit down with us in the middle of the track or wander around and check out the stands etc. and yes i am sure there will be the opportunity for a practise on a fixed track bike at the grass track before hand in may.
Geoff, Sophie Brunton at the Superclub session has suggested that Sophie L compete at Herne Hill on Sunday 2nd June in the Youth omnium. So we will provisionally be there rather than Manchester. Having said that, Sophie has not cycled on an outdoor hard track yet so that decision may yet change.
finally back on internet after 3 weeks.... line damaged by latest weather and engineers only able to get to terminals today....hooray
Claire...that's o.k. as the omnium is important as it is with all youth track racers. She should do just fine there and I hope all serious track riders get into the hard
and grass track races this season. It would be good to see as many as possible CCA youth mixing it with other clubs.
Sophie will have other opportunities to ride the velodrome and should do well against her age group in the omnium so go for it.
Mark, thanks for the input. Always good to have you onboard.
Tim...Gayle is noted...welcome Gayle.
PeterT...Look forward to meeting Matt...thanks for the heads-up
Geoff, I have managed to build up a track bike from bits in the garage and an old '80s frame (bought from the dump for a tenner by the way!!) so i'll be ok for a bike!! Also will it be suitable for grass track i'd like to try my luck?? (obv. tyre change tho!!)
Anyone want a lift on the 2nd, let me know, I'll only have room for 1 as bike will be in the back.

Just to confirm that I will attend with my son Matt (14).

Also, is the minimum age limit 10 and how strict are they on this?
