Today was a great day. Thank you Mark and to all who helped out for your enthusiasm, weather resistance and organisation. From what I saw there were lots of people proud to chip in and be part of the CCA setup from sandwich making (mark you know you loved it!!) to number shouting (barnabas you have found your calling....)
I saw a couple of complements on the eastern cross page on facebook about how well the event was run. Well done everyone who helped out running the event, mark and stevie for organising the event, and also to everyone who raced. A great show of ashwell blue!
Great course, enjoyed riding the course evan if I did strack it myself. Jon
Yes indeed, a fantastic day and superb organisation from Mark. Big thanks to all from the club who helped out, the course was put up in record time and there were plenty of marshals and helpers to make for a smooth event.
Thanks to the hard work of the catering team and all those who supplied cakes etc. They made over £300 profit!
In terms of the racing there were 270 riders across all events. In the seniors race Cam was first CCA in 13th. Theo was a DNF after rolling a tub whilst in about 7th place. Dan P smashed up his rear mech as well. Shelton looked to be going better on Stuarts cross bike, whilst Anthony Morris was rolling past loads of riders on his 29'er with extra wide handlebars. Craig Dyce led home the vets in 13th. And it was good to see Alan Triggs and Peter Daniels in their first cx races. Jackie was 3rd in the ladies. Ollie 10th in the youth, Adam Lightfoot 4th in the U12's and Sam Daniels 2nd in the U 10's
Well done to all riders on what was a harder, more energy sapping course that it looked. Or maybe that was just me!
Well done Mark and everyone. Glad to lend a helping hand and voice at my first experience of cyclo cross- this is a whole new world and one that needs further exploring!
A very well organised event, lots of friendly faces and Mrs Barnabas was amazed at all the activity going on. It was good to meet a few more people from the club other than the piratical crew I normally ride with on Sundays.
I am wasted in the investment world.....my true vocation should obviously have been a bingo hall caller!
Might just have to look at the cross bikes on my visit to the National Bike Show next week....the optimum number of bikes is n+1, where n is the number of existing bikes....!!

All sorted now. Julie is doing signing on and the Car Parking issue is solved so no marshals needed there.
Thanks for all the offers of help,
Mark.
Thanks to everyone who helped out today. It all went well and we were treated to a cracking senior race.
Results are up on the Eastern cross website.
Mark.
