  • Good idea Cap'n.

Would have to come solo initially as The Flying Dutchwoman needs to ferry the Flying Dutchboy home that evening, then can join us later.

Not keen personally on firing cannonball broadsides down Stevenage alleys.

Italian rations OK, spicy Indian better...or even pub grub. Happy to share.

    FD
  • No broadside of cannon balls
    stick to festivities ashore
    will look at some pubs
3 tuns good food with back room , but a little pricey
fancy a change from exotic spices
will come back with a tavern fit for pirates
    ( solo and shackled )

Stretched on the rack with the cat o' nine tails?

I'm in, arrive solo by train (hopefully) and perhaps joined later by the Flying Dutchwoman taxicab.....

......however, Royston is off the map of the known world for us Hitchin dwellers....

...don't you just fall off the edge of the world beyond Baldock?!

    Do they do deep-fried bananas?

Perhaps Rupert has been retained as cheap source of labour for repairing and exporting Sri Lankan clunkers to Western markets?

    FD
  • Royston is full of Eastern Promise
    .......but a bit closer

    Set compass due East
I did take the crew there a couple of weeks ago, but vision was blurry going up the hill
( Cut Throat and No Nonsense Nick bailed out at that point )

Captain has tasted the local offerings before, worth another visit
I will put you down for 2

    CP
  • Hills are very disagreeable, in Royston or otherwise, so CTJ and NNN took the right approach.

Very unlikely that the Dutchwoman will be eating as not expected until after 9pm and we will have finished, if starting at 7.30pm.

The Flying Dutchboy is partaking in a 2 mile sponsored swim in Hitchin that starts at 6.30pm that Saturday night (what joker arranges these events?) and the Dutchwoman is picking him up afterwards.

At least he'll be able to swim when I make him walk the plank!

  • Hi James
Can you book a place for me? Thanks.

I can confirm that the Thai Rack (At The Glasshouse) is a nice restaurant.
  • Hi Shaun

  • What's happening on Saturday, Commodore?
  • going to an unknown place at at unknown time
or is it at the other place round he corner ?

......apparently those reviews where years old
    confused ?
so are the Gold fish !
    .......where are we going ?

Well, my friends, the time has come
To raise the roof and have some fun
Throw away the work to be done
    Let the music play on
    (play on, play on)
    Everbody sing, everybody dance
    Lose yourself in wild romance
    Were going to party
    Karamu, fiesta, forever

    Commodore P
  • Hello

But where are we going all night long?

Will we be dancing on the ceiling?

    FD
  • Hello, (is it me you're looking for?)

    Sail on down the line
About a half a mile or so
And I don't really wanna know
    Where you're going

(Sail on - by the Commodores)

    So, where are we going?!

    FD
  • FD chef Goldfish
In a bowl of his own
  • You're once, twice, three times a pirate

    Where are we going?!

    FD
  • Currently 'carbo loading' in Cambridge.

So, where are we going tomorrow? This goldfish bowl looks vaguely familiar.

    FD

    Ahoy Commodore

So, what type of food do they do in Thai Rack?

Are we sharing starters, or can we order loads individually, scoff the lot and expect everyone else to subsidise the gluttons?

    Where are we going again?

    FD
  • Mixed starters only , so no hour wait this time
I am driving, so no booze for anyone
    Rack of lamb all round
    CP
  • Whatever happened to sharing the driving - you drive there and Mrs Pugwash drives back?

Don't worry Commodore, I will have a few Chang beers for you.

    FD
  • Royston of the East fulfilled its promise
    Exotic foods and good company
    Convivial with chilly

Looking to do next one mid May

Chips and ham butties to keep us going
Friday night to allow a recovery for Sunday
16th or 30th possibles, will let you know
    7pm start

Time yet but let me know if coming , to book the chips !

    CP
  • Thanks Cap'n for organising last night. Good food, smashing company and plenty of talk about bikes...what's not to like?

Looking forward to the Ashwell pub crawl...and talk of possible Belgium trip later in the year!

    Criterium d'Ashwell. May 2014.

The challenge - 'how many laps can you complete of the 3 pubs circuit in Ashwell on one Friday night?'

    Draughting allowed.

    FD
  • Thanks for organising last night and great company, sadly 'Pong Gary' had his revenge this morning and I was confined to the smallest room on the ship. No doubt leaving someone else to take my coveted second place in the sprint!
  • Pong Pete sounds more appropriate.

Confined to the heads? Nasty business. Hope you're feeling better.

You would have been lucky to get 5th today....a lively bunch.

    FD
  • It comes from saying not your dish when you ordered it
No saying what they put in it
