  • not sure of my weekend plans yet will let you know.
  • we have Saturday clearance... see you at 8:30 :)

    what's the route Robbie?
  • Route south of the 505.. Old Knebworth... Whitwell... Preston. etc
  • I'll see you Saturday, 8.30am at the garage. Note everyone: weather for Sunday looks proper rubbish - Saturday is better.

Route then? Something like this? About 65 miles.

You could cut in a bit to come in to take on Preston - or stay wide a bit for Lilley and Hexton Hill. Robbie's call - his ride.
  • I'm up for this Saturday ride, but am getting some worrying vibes this is going to be a fast one!!!

Can anybody let me know if this is likely to be "Nasty" as i don't want to get dropped coming out of Ashwell high street in a shower of carbon fibre!!!

The route looks a good one...
  • route looks spot on, will probably break off due to Saturday commitments - no change there then!!

    who fancies the
  • I'll join you all tomorrow. You're right, Martin - weather looks evil on Sunday.
  • Andy. We'll all stick together. If some want to beast a couple of hills then that's ok or do what Ashley did...
went up in 53-11 sat down!
  • Chaps. Thanks so much for making only my second ride with the club such fun. Particular thanks to Skelders for help with the puncture and John, Robbie and Martin for looking after me in the last few miles. I think the six consecutive sub-3 min miles from mile 52 were the killer for me!

Hope to join you for a beer on Tuesday night (that's part of the fitness regime ...) and out again next Saturday. I'll try to cling on to the back wheel a bit longer next week.

  • Top ride chaps. Hilly and gritty. Next week eh...

Really enjoyed the ride. The 8.30am start was good too in my opinion. As was having a planned route beforehand. Well done Jon for keep the pace strong, as you are a card carrying member of the Nasty club - you should deffo get racing. Apologies for not knowing the direction from that bit after Aston. I hope to get more aware around there in the next few rides. The roads are very greasy right now. And 2 punctures out of 6 riders despite winter tyres says enough about getting summer tyres off if you haven't done so. A great stag crossed in front of us around Ardeley. And saw an albino pheasant [are they rare?]. Great to see Chris stepping up and staying strong. Skelders and Adam had to peel off around Whitwell to get back - it's a good route for breaking off at any time. We came in 67 miles, 17mph+ av. Back at 1pm - not bad considering the stops. Might be on the Sunday ride next week btw.

  • It was a jolly good ride and a good route. Nice to be back in the saddle after five weeks off (and half a stone on). Definitely winter bike time now, methinks. Nice to meet Chris also.
  • ditto all the above, was certainly the last outing for the Summer steed... but a side from the rain at the start it was still very warm with little wind! don't fancy today though... good luck you brave souls!!

great ride, good pace & some nice bumps to boot.

    see you Tuesday!!
  • Must keep tabs on the Saturday option. Will try to join you sometime. I like the 8.30 am start as it gets the job done sooner and fits in to family time better. Also it would be a travesty to not ride with the Skelders for the whole of winter.
    Regards,
    Vincent
