  • will have rollers at Tuesday session and yes at SCHOOL......we will do 2-4 circuits depending on peoples levels..can adjust on night..Andrews call...SO...rollers as well in the 2 hour slot somewhere...bring bike and we'll start.....

    Saturday was good.......we had 11 and covered our costs.........weather looks bad again,SO I have booked the school again for a roller/turbo session.10am to 12 noon as last week...£2 each as numbers are less than cross-fit......anyone with either turbo or rollers welcome..please remember to bring Your bike as well.....Anyone with spare Turbo's/Rollers willing to loan to the club??? please let me know....Thanks for yours James.....

    We had 24 at this cross-fit...several off with various ailments....potentially if all regulars turn up we will have 34...there is enough space for them all in the school gym..the space works well..hope everyone enjoyed this week.....I pinged an achilles tendon..v.sore, but will be O.K. soon.........Thanks again to all for coming and making this work so well

  • 4.5 inch dia. preferable as they give widest range when a fan attached....easy spinning and aluminium if you can get them...go for it...
  • good session on rollers and turbos at school today........fewer numbers so didn't quite cover costs.......if weather O.K.
    will be riding at STEVENAGE next week....watch the YOUTH section for updates.

  • This Tuesday 9th February....IMPORTANT

    Hello to ALL.......tomorrow Rob Sharman from British Cycling's Talent Team will be joining our session to give a short presentation on B.C's programme for integrating with club's like CCAshwell and assisting us to deliver and develop our young riders.
    They have restructured their programmes to make them more approachable and proactive so this would be a good opportunity for all members and parents interested in how this could benefit them and their children.
    He should be talking ONLY for about 15-20 minutes from 8 or 8.15 AFTER our session so do come along or come earlier than normal to collect your children so that you can hear and ask questions of ROB.
    He is coming from Derby so I hope you will endeavour to make his trip worthwhile by coming.

    Please come ready to do cross-fit SHARP start at 7pm.

    Look forward to seeing you then and letting you know what CCA coaches have discussed for our new Go-Ride sessions and track from May.

  • fewer than normal but a very good session......everyone is improving and Rob was very impressed with the club and the atmosphere.....all good stuff........BC are rolling out their elite youth programme to a much wider range of talented riders with more opportunities to gain from the skills only previously restricted to the top 15 riders per region. They are looking for pro-active clubs like CCA to achieve what they term DREAM CLUB status. From the various headings looks like we are well on the way to ticking all the boxes so just a little more effort and we can look for good times ahead........
  • I'm hoping to see a big group tonight. I've been very impressed with the take-up and enthusiasm on the Tuesday sessions. I've noticed that everyone is really improving and a few have lost some weight too. Seeing people improve their strength, endurance, posture and flexibility has been a lot of fun. It's good to see people standing up straight with fewer "old cyclist postures" out there! Long may it continue! We have a couple more months of this, going through until the clocks change and we can ride after work. I'll try to put together a plan that everyone can do at home to retain their newfound strength, flexibility and posture!

    I'm going to slow down the warm up a little to ensure that no one picks up an injury. Could you be VERY conscious of any injuries you already had before starting and be sure to tell me about them so I can help you adjust and not cause it to worsen. Geoff is currently the poster boy to training on an old injury and what can happen if you are not careful and don't communicate your injury status to your coach! ;-)

    everyone looks much better than their first time try, so keep it going if only to steal a march on those missing out
  • Great session on Tuesday, we did three rounds of the circuits at 1 minute, plus some hilarious warm up routines as usual! Following feedback I think we'll take it back to 45 seconds per station (and I promise to watch the clock closer!), but try to make it four tours de circuit!

  • coming up to the last Tuesday in March......4 sessions to go through April and then we are into evening rides..........lets make these last 5 sessions as full as possible and get the most from them to set us up for the new season........this has been a great series and Andrew wants to do these again this coming Autumn..proposal is a Tuesday cross-fit and an additional session on Thursdays for turbo and rollers.........don't know about you but from the general reactions I think everyone has gained something and the coming together of parents, youth and adult club members has been very good for the club..........sorry I've missed doing a few but that's life...........thanks Andrew and let's round this off with a big take-up........see you all Tuesday at 7pm at the school

  • Punultimate Cross Fit TOMORROW....TUESDAY............holidays over so come on and get the benefit of the last two sessions. NEXT WEEK Andrew has a competition for ALL. Let's see who has benefitted most from these exercises. There may even be prizes for the winners......A big thank you to all who have taken part..it has been a pleasure to see so many of you attend and get stronger and fitter.
