slight rain...possibly thawing, but likely to freeze, so no ride for those who were brave enough to even think about a ride....let's hope this awful weather warms up soon
any of you girls up for a ride this Saturday??...my back should be o.k. ..twisted it Wed......if dry and reasonable see you all at 10......I have a planning meeting at 8.30 but will be back in time, so see you all then
Hi guys, I'm still ill with acough and I cant ride with and cough so not going to be there! Rosanna...you're very lucky, have a great time and get well soon! Geoff...I hope that your back gets better! Good luck with your ride tomorrow and hope to see you all sometime soon!
Hi everyone.....if the weather forecasts are to be believed we will have black ice and a very cold day with snow on Saturday.........I also have to go North to exchange xmas presents .....therefore there will be NO girls ride ..........sorry all but maybe it would be best to give these a rest until the new year.
watch this space and I will let you know when the next ride is planned
if I don't see you before, have a Happy Christmas.
Today dad and myself went out for a short ride but quite a hard & long one with dad using an extremely old mountin bike that skips the chain when you put too much pressure on it! NIGHTMARE!!! 20miles, 1:33 and an average speed of 12.6! Not too bad!
Hi Hannah and all.........hope you had a great Christmas.....weather has been bad and I'm sure you all enjoyed the break..how was New Zealand Rosanna?..........now, as to the Saturday girls ride I am happy to start these again on the 15th......crossed fingers for good weather. If it is raining hard or icy or very cold I don't think it a good idea...how many of you are keen to start these again?
I am hoping that we can restart the rides this weekend.
I have some really good news in that a recently retired female professional racer is hoping to join us on the coaching side for the youth section. This will provide us with unparalleled experience and is a wonderful boost to our clubs support for you.
I will let you know more on this next week.
If the weather is reasonable we can start again at 10am from my yard 37 silver street, ashwell.
Please be robust as this is the winter...expect some slight rain and wind on the rides......please dress warmly if the day is cold....I suggest that we don't ride if the conditions are 2 deg and falling.......but anything over 4 deg should be manageable. After all we will be getting warm by cycling. Remember drinks and energy bars
If it is raining hard we won't ride...there is no fun in starting out soaking.
I will always make an entry at 9am on the morning of the ride on conditions and the likelihood of riding so please check the forum before starting out.
Happy New Year to you too Geoff & all! Dad & I are hoping to leave erlier to create less rushing! I imagine we will ease back into it with gentle paces and what not, just come back from swimming so I'm really tired!
Hi, only just recovered after that strong wind this morning! :P Extremely tiring going into the wind and we were not getting pushed forward by the wind very much. We were getting blown about like nobody's business! Hope for it to be better next week and hope Rosanna can make it so we can wish her a happy birthday!
well done all of you. 17 miles is a good distance given the conditions..........it was a very strong wind but you managed well......see you next week and cross fingers for good weather...Happy birthday anyway Rosanna for next Sat.
ride tomorrow girls?......looks like it could be cold so do wrap up warmly.....I will make the route a little shorter than last weeks if that is the case....look on the forum at 9am to see if we are riding....hope to see you all there..and Daisy..you should all do well when we start the grass track again.
Are you still intending to practice clips and pedals this morning? I've just change Anneka's pedals and fitted cleats.
She is full of cold and I don't think she really feels like going out on a road ride at all but she's willing to come over and practice pedals if you're doing that first?
