  • Keep at it Phil. You're nearly there...
  • Good bit of training for me, as I'm not exactly a powerhouse on the flat and I could do with developing a bit more speed. Found the ride quite tough unless the road was tilting up slightly or we climbed a hillock and then it went quite easy. Strange …
  • Interested in a steady-ish ride. Thru and off sounds good.
  • We should use those hills out that way more often. They're pretty good. Thanks for the route Mark.
  • 8am gang now going to join the 9am gang.
  • Went out for 70m on me own, up to Grafham. Bit of a north-easterly going out, better coming back! Met Jez coming the other way at Moggerhanger, so we caught up for a few minutes. Comfortable ride at 17s (that was 15s out, 19s back)!
  • Ahhh, sorry guys, this event is now SOLD OUT. Better luck next time.
  • Good route, a lot of the GD, but it's easier that way round than the other way! Through and off worked quite well to keep the pace nice. Impressed with Martin, Vince, Tim and MC who all complain about lack of miles but all hung in well. Alistair and …
  • Works for me, see you 8.15
  • How far do you want to go, Alistair & James? I'll sort a route out...
  • Robbie, Jim, Carmelo and Shaun out. Great Weather. Great company. Great intervals. Great ride!
  • Should be there. Hip improving slowly but I'll probably be avoiding the intervals...
  • A most excellent day of cycling. Started out a bit nippy and then we went through thick fog around Reed and Barkway and it got even colder. Blue train working well between Thaxted and Lavenham (the half way point) when the six of us headed a group of…
  • Hoping to meet up with people outside the cafe from 7.50am onwards. I'll be in CC Ashwell azure. The Mayor of Stevenage will set us off at 8.15am! 131 miles. We'll require lights if we could be on the road beyond 7.15pm. Don't forget the clocks go …
  • Scouse, I'm not going to be out tomorrow unfortunately (resting a sore hip). I'm a bit miffed I won't be able to catch up with you properly... 16mph would've been fine, although I have been known to get the wobbles at 15mph
  • Plotted out the route for the Stevenage Start of Summertime Specials 210km: http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=366310
  • Thanks PhilA for suggesting that route through the Chilterns. Robbie and I had a blast, although it rained for the whole 80 miles and it was bloody cold by the end! Rolling from the start over to Breachwood and then Markgate including hauling bikes…

  • OK, a brief dip into the Chilterns it is. Bring yer climbing legs. See you at 8.30am.

  • I can certainly do something out that way and know the route, but it's 75m minimum (Baldock to Baldock) to play in the lumpy stuff Phil mentions. My usual route goes out and back via Markgate. Could do 8am Baldock for extra time... ??

  • There's still that longer route via Stewartby, Turvey etc. that we did the other week. Also an out and back(ish) via Waresley with a loop around Huntingdon.

  • Not sure where the hills are on that course, although it would probably be a harder ride for me...

  • From the current Cycling Weekly editorial: In all my 40 years of bike riding, [the Cape Argus] ranks as one of the most demanding days I've ever spent in the saddle... The temperature peaked at 42.3C on the Chapman's Peak climb... the organisers deci…
  • Might depend who's up for it and maybe it's a bit late to organise and coordinate, but I sometimes take a car to either Woburn or Ashridge/Berkhamsted and hit the Chilterns... Reps of Therfield/Sandon M hills sounds ugly nasty, TBH. Although I would…

  • He cycled into a dog and fell off. Broke his hand bad. It's wired and plastered. Comeback goal is the Primavera. Training for it in his garage. Currently, he can't do CTRL-ALT-DEL very well to log on to a computer. You are up to speed.
  • Nice one Tim. HR 179... I can't say you didn't try...
  • It will be the funniest thing ever if you do 8 weeks on the turbo and then smash the Primavera...
  • Yes, we did come back that way... and now I think about it, there was this one miserable barstool we passed by near there...
  • Ride report for CTRL-ALT-DEL PhilA (done a one-handed on that turbo yet?). Cracking ride round Hertford/Ayot St. Lawrence/Hexton. Six out initially with a couple of peel-offs on the way round. Quite spicy in places (usually when Jez was on the front)…
  • Nice one. Anybody else out on Saturday? I'm getting worried that Robbie's spending more quality one-to-one time with me than with his missus at the moment... O-O
