Blue Train working well today. Some good through and off lead to a 20mph average. Nice weather too. All sportives should be run like this one. Anybody charging more than £12 is taking the p - timing chip, good signage and food and water half way aro…

I've mapped out a good route for Friday It's 60 miles (or option for 70) including a cafe stop after 30 miles in Chinnor (or Watlington at 38). About 1,550m climbing (1,800m), so fairly challenging... Includes the following hills: Aston Clinton, D…

Yes, I've bought inner-tubes from them (700 x 18-25C). Pretty much the same quality (IMO) as branded inner-tubes (e.g. conti or bontrager).

I think Jane's probably right that 4.50-4.59 will be a hot-spot (as will 5.50-5.59, 6.50-6.59)... The slightly earlier slot will probably give the '5hr people' a slightly better chance of starting together.

I can do a circular route about 80m. Watton, Welwyn, Wheathampstead, Redbourn, Gaddesden Row, Eaton Bray, Tingrith, Barlon-le-Clay etc Maybe a couple of short sharp hills around Gaddesden Row if we want it.

James, I think you meant "MC, don't get left behind at the tea stop again!" And I've entered, BTW

Question for Stef (or anybody else who knows): Does each member of a team need to submit the same anticipated ride time? I would like to aim for <5hrs (based on my effort last year) and was hoping to start with an earlier (faster) group.

Thanks Stef!

Enjoyed it! Think I like the route better that way around. Needed a coke in Buntingford to get home...

Should be able to make this. Weather's looking good. My normal loop is 72 miles. Ashwell, Buntingford, Clavering, Debden, Thaxted, Gt. Bardfield, Henham, Rickling Green, the Pelhams, Buntingford, Ashwell We might ride it in reverse for a change.

Hi Tim I spent 3 months on the road once crossing Canada. Not exactly the Stans, but a great experience. Happy to chat to you. Note, I'm not often out on Weds anymore due to work commitments. http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/ is a online resource wort…

There's a couple of names missing from Nathan's list above. Robbie, Ian S and John T have a different club name / team name. Perhaps they can correct it? I think this is the current list: Gran Fondo (177 km) MC Gran Fondo (177 km) Stef Gran Fondo …

I've entered this. Note that there are currently 1667 entries across both distances. I'm not sure how close this is to the event maximum? If you're thinking of riding but haven't entered yet, maybe do it sooner rather than later...

Yes, good to see Ellis near Redbourn. He was riding a steel bike! Enjoyed the ride. Tired now.

Should be out. Got a route going SW if you want it. Ends up at the cafe at Ashridge in the Chilterns. About 70 miles round trip. A few hills.

I don't think it matters much what lube you use, as long as you wipe the chain down and reapply the lube reasonably regularly. For what it worth, I use Rock 'n' Roll lubes which are wax based. I prefer these over wet lubes. The R'n'R winter lube last…

Hi James Can you book a place for me? Thanks. I can confirm that the Thai Rack (At The Glasshouse) is a nice restaurant.

Thanks for organising this for us again, Stef. It's good to hear that we've got a team place guaranteed. Hopefully we'll get some more...

Didn't get a place via the ballot. Would be interested in a team place.

Five of us out at 9am. Theo, Daniel, JonC, Rupert and me. Wet and windy coming home.

Should be there

Good ride. Slight headwind on the way back, but nothing Neil and John couldn't handle.
-
I would prefer 8am start and 17s. I need to do things in the afternoon. I know the way.

JP averaged a steady 17.5mph on a mountain bike. Too early for Bourn cafe, needed to go longer. Tiring coming back in that wind.

Pete, for sheer 'hardness' factor, surely you should ride back from Norfolk too?

"Lowlights include the food stop at Narborough. A little town trapped in time like some episode of Sapphire & Steel. You will need to bring your own butties and jelly babies as theres nowt much more than a bench and bus stop there." Martin, yo…
