  • Ok mate. Got ya txt. We'll put on the 86" gears then!
  • That was a top ride chaps. Last 20m fast like it was mid summer. Kinda liking that 73".
  • Clearly going to Belgo on a Friday evening and early Saturday morning rides in Herts is not the same envigourating combo as Skelders Bar in Dixmuide and canal tow paths. Limped home pathetically with just over 2hrs on the clock. Must try harder in the morning. Hill starts on fixed are interesting. Felt like i was doing my driving test again.
  • I'm out early doors for a couple of hours. Might cross paths in the dark.
  • cheers robbie & all
good ride felt it in my legs maybe should not have done 40 plus miles yesterday but all good training.
back to work next saturday so will be on the sunday run.
    thanks
    strappy.
  • Went out for a 25m loop early this morning. Think yesterday took its toll.
Not quite as fast on the way in!
  • very strange robbie i done about the same around 30 miles legs felt ok
but i did stay on the flat.
    see you later
    strappy.
  • What about a 70-80m Grafham route?
Am easy.... I like all the routes!
  • Can I request route confirmation for the beginning of the ride as would like to join up as per usual - thanks.
  • So which way is Grafham? GD to begin with I think.
  • Fellas - here's a 73 mile version. Longer by kicking out around Swinehead to Kimbolton. Just a thought. Summat different.

I hope to join… with gears. And caveat that I still feel off the pace at the mo, so might be in the shade for more than I'd like to be.

    Cool. That's the route. Anti-clockwise?
    Info for Phil
  • Thanks Chaps - I'll assume Anti-cw. Probably catch up as you exit Guilden M.
  • eek No. clockwise. Was thinking Broom or Old Warden to meet up. Maybe bonnie Langford.
  • CW it is then...cheers.
  • may well pop over to say hi, but am still supposedly resting my knee :-(

Phil A - sorry if we missed you. We set off v late - MC had a troublesome puncture. Was with Robbie and Steve. Phil K joined us for an hour too - a warm up for his cyclocross exploits tomorrow - good luck! So gears outgunned fixed for a while.

All very smooth. Robbie and MC going great on their fixed wheelers. I'm glad we stuck on the Swineshead spur - into deepest foggy Bedfordshire. It felt very far away and you're kinda halfway to Leicester. MC traded that bit for a quick stop off at Grafham cafe. And then back into a light headwind on the return. Steve had a bad turn with an energy bar and had to have a sit down in Guilden. Hope you're much better now Steve! Well done MC for giving Steve a lift.

All good though - over 18mph til Guilden, 73.5 miles. Weather kind - looks better tomorrow - enjoy.

btw - If anyone fancies stepping up from a steady club ride - these 8am Saturday rides are great as the fixed boys keep it steady with minimal silliness. Think about it. There's a lot of capable riders in the club.
  • Guys, no problemo - ride went well today. Out early again tomorrow. Hopefully catch up next week.
  • Anyone out this Sat ?
  • Yes. I'll be there at 8am. Might follow the GD route...
or my version of it if Phil isn't there to lead!
  • Sounds good to me, see you there.
  • robbie
should be over at 8.00 as iam off work again not sure how far i will go as i have been of the bike for a few days with a bad back
but feels a lot better now see you at the tuns.
    strappy
  • Gents, I'll be setting of at 7am and doing the GD in reverse (due to wind direction) so will probably pass you at some point coming in the opposite direction. Cheers.
  • Sorry about that chaps. Changed that cable because I felt I had tightened the last one too tight, causing it to split. Seem to have been over cautious in tightening the new one !!

Hope you had a good ride.

    Alistair
  • Five of us out.
Shame about the mechanical Alistair. Went on to do 73m of the GD - crossing Phil's path just before Harlton where I had a puncture.
Good to have Josh out with us. Got back home and put the winter tyres on... and tested them out for another 25m. All good.
  • cheers for the route robbie sorry i had leave you at barrington hill got back ok finished on 85 miles.
got up sunday in a lot for pain with my back could not even do a 30 mile recovery ride, going to the
physio today if i can get in.
    hope to see you all
    next sunday.
    strappy
  • Tmw.... another 60m-80m route with a cut-off. Nice and sunny!

    Rather eventful morning!
Very good route round Peter's Green etc new hilly ground for me. NIce one.

    As said to MC....
"You think you look so f******** good in yr tight lycra shorts...."
(MC did have those rather dashing CCA blue leggings on!)
  • clearly a repressed desire for that man in lycra.....
