  • What about all bike tools, accessories, spares etc.. It seems that we should coordinate on what is needed to bring. Otherwise I fear that we will all bring track pumps, tools etc.. which will be redundant. Do we know what gear Martyn has on board his van in the way of tools etc or are we expected to all bring our own kit and spares?
  • Martyn will have a basic set of tools... but we'll need to bring our own spares like inner tubes etc

Agree that CCA riders can coordinate somewhat regarding larger items like track pumps and spare tyres etc
    Open for discussion.
  • I have 2-3 spare new 23mm clincher tyres. will bring. Am bringing spare campag rear mech...spec. to accommodate triple. probably just me but o.k. for emergencies. A set of brake and gear cables would be a good idea. Will bring tool for campag and shimano cassette and chain whip.I have spare tubes and spare tubs plus repair gunk for me. No track pump. Anyone bringing a box of gas cylinders?
What time Tjhursday at The Three Tuns Robbie for bikes?
  • What's happening about jersey collection? Can't get hold of Will.
  • can someone collect mine please.

Suggest that next Tuesday's club night would be a good opportunity for the group to get together and discuss this sort of stuff. Maybe distribute the jerseys too. Or Thursday when we drop off the bikes if folk can't do Tuesday.

Good idea to have a few spares as a group but as all our bikes are regularly serviced and well maintained we don't need to go mad (that is everyone isn't it?).

I can collect your jersey Geoff - no problem.
  • Who will bring track pump? One or two? Will be in demand for latex tubers.
I will bring a box of gas canisters. But we should have more than 6 between us. Will also bring spare tyre and basic tools for on the road repair.
Suggest we all bring two Inners.

Now have my old aluminium bike fully functional and in full tricolour livery just for the French, along with white bar tape for the baptism of course.
  • thanks Jeremy.....I am coming down for the 2nd as I have osteopath at 12noon and after a rest I am being pummelled by Mike Salt to iron out as many muscle kinks as my sorry body can stand. Can't make club night YET again...sorry. Since we have to drop off bikes Thursday, presumably evening, why not have a drink or two then at the Tuns :-)
good news on the bike Vince.
  • Don't worry about the jerseys, they'll be at the club night on Tuesday or I'll drop them off with Robbie so that they will be there for the start of the trip. I'm a bit busy at the moment so individual pick ups are a bit tricky to arrange, but I should be at the club night.
  • I will be there on Tuesday. Good idea to discuss kit and spares and pick up jerseys.
  • I won't be able to make club night, due to working late in London, so could you leave my top with Robbie please Will and I'll pick it up next Thursday, when we drop our bikes with the tour organiser

    cheers

    John
  • Thanks Will... great that you can drop them off at club night on Tuesday. Suggest most riders who have paid can pick them up then... or from me on Thursday evening when we drop our bikes off to ACT at the Three Tuns. Please make sure you have paid up before taking your shirt.
  • Ta Robbie and all paid up...question is will the XXL fit?!!
  • Martyn will pick up bikes and bags on the evening of Thursday 3 Sept from the Three Tons. Time tbc.
    Do we know yet Robbie??
My email is down...trying to fix. Just moved to windows 10 and lost connection to server...ho-hum.
  • Hi chaps, as with all the other tmgpro kit orders drop me an email at will@ccashwell.com when you've made the payment, it just helps keep everything in one place. Ta
  • what time on Thursday Robbie ??
  • Riders..... Drop off bike and small bag 8pm onwards at the Three Tons on Thursday.
  • Btw... If you can't drop yr bike off then let's help each other out. That's cool.
  • What train is everyone getting on Sat into London? Shall we try and sync?

Few of us living in Bedfordshire looking to get the 11.19 out of Biggleswade.

Arrives 12.02 leaving enough time for a beer at the station bar.

Weather looks cool but mostly dry for Paris at the weekend.
  • The 11:21 from Ashwell arriving at KGX 12:19 looks to be the ticket for those wanting to leave from Ashwell.
  • 11.30 from Hitchin arriving King's X at 12.02...same train as the Biggleswade Beer Boys!
  • Have a great time Paris Nice'ers - very jealous

  • Stef,i'm sure Wells on friday will be equally as Glam despite the 14c difference in temperature and the 40mph gusts.

Fish n chips or snails,it's a no brainer...!
  • you're right, i'm surprised wells-by-the-sea hasnt been twinned with nice in fact, so many similarities
  • If Eurostar is 13.31 and arriving 1 hr prior, doesn't give us much time in Parcel Yard, especially for those arriving Kings X at 12.19!

Is there a bar at Euston after checking through ticket/passport control?
  • Planning to be on the 10.44am from royston, 10.52 am at baldock and 10.55 am at Letchworth getting to kings x at 11.32am in time for a snack and chill out. Hope to hook up with James D at the parcel yard.
    Trains depart st Pancras right?

I hope everyone has their cycling shoes and passport? Easily forgotten right martinH?

    See you tomorrow.
  • John - don't go to Euston. You need St Pancras for Eurostar departures.
  • Will be in Paris 9th enjoying a nice breakfast. Cu later.safe trip guys,
  • Cheers Geoff - enjoy.

Pissing it down in Biggleswade and feeling like November. This really is a race to the sun!
