Good run. I ended up with 73 miles @ 18.4mph, which I think is the Garmin's way of saying "you were never going to keep that pace up". Thanks all.

Yes - sorry for taking off like that when Strappy, Vice, Pete et al swept by - I saw an opportunity to save the squishy bits and took it. The last 20 odd miles must have been at well over 20mph average, Great fun.

I can't come as I have to rush home to look after a screaming toddler. If, on the other hand, I accidentally missed my train, and then took a wrong turn to the platform, I might have no alternative than the have a cheeky half. It'd be rude not to.

Sorry - final post from me on this topic. A more talented colleague has finished what I couldn't and added in the right lettering to the shot. Here it is.

Belatedly, I have 'shopped the John o'Groats picture to remove the rather unsightly "Your Town" sign. The new version is here. I've left the old version up for those who want to fondly remember the argument we had with the mercenary gentleman charg…

As a mere "potential" (with some high grade grovelling yet to to) I realise I only have half a vote, however...I would prefer fewer nights away. The route on James's link is about 700 miles (though I note some stages start in different places from t…

I would love to do this, subject to some very delicate negotiations with the Director of Operations. So please also put me down as a potential.

Great. Thank, Martin. That's fixed now.

For reasons that I don't fully understand, other people can't download the images on Flickr. If you do want to access them, let me know and I'll invite you to the Dropbox folder. Adam

Thanks for the comments - Mick took the bulk of these, so credit to him. MC - yes, got the link and will add a couple to the set tonight or tomorrow. Some nice pics there. Geoff - will do. I'm also going to put the lot in a Dropbox folder - will …

Thanks John (and Geoff). I'm sure it'll clear up before a month. As promised, here is the first cut of my pictures - a lot of which were taken by Mick. I've tried to include some local sights as well as bike shots, but it won't be to everyone's tas…

Been to the doctor today about my knee. X-Ray later this week and no cycling for "up to a month"! That does, however, give me time to properly compile the photos. If anyone has a set they could let me have (we can arrange the details later) please …

What Alistair said. Brilliantly organised, brilliantly supported. God knows where I would have been without both of those elements, but I very much doubt I would have got as far even as stranding myself on the outskirts of Inverness. Wandering aroun…

Jez James has kindly lent me his. But thanks for the offer. Adam

Martin Great tip! Alas it appears many have indeed sold out Jez Thanks v. Much. Any way I could pick them up this evening?

Would love to join but green passes for this period long since expended. Have fun.

I should have joined you after all. Did 75 miles on my own down around Herford and back via Royston. Two punctures. :-(
-
That's not the way I heard it at all, Strappy. I heard you were spat out the back and came in last. While also mounting a suicidal breakaway and romping home. And finishing mid pack with a workman-like performance.
-
We thought you'd taken the direct route home instead. Sorry - would have waited if I'd known.

Phil said this to me on Sunday and, of course, he's right. I was in the car on Saturday and just one half of that day's ride swept past me, a proper blue train resplendent in club colours and looking purposeful. A magnificent sight.

Amazing, exhilarating write up from Theo. When, many years from now he retires from a successful career racing there's a another career waiting as the next Tim Krabbe. Well done to all the boys.

James has been salivating more about that bar than about his new mountain bike. I saw him one weekday morning trying to get in for a pint - before the grand opening had even taken place...
-
I'd also like to join in, but I'm afraid I'm too fat and slow. I guess the worst that can happen is that I get spat out the back.
-
And here's the proof. Great ride, all. Looking forward to LEJoG now.

I've entered.

I will be there, but due to my board's wholly unreasonable insistence that I formally account for some of my recent activities, I'm likely to be at least 30 mins late. Hopefully, I won't miss the all-important lining of the stomach phase.

I just wanted to say thanks to MC, Robbie, Stef and Martin for a really impressive presentation, and all the work that's gone into it so far. I cam away feeling fired up for the challenge - roll on next June! p.s - as well as doing the video, I'm v…
